Medical Equipment Gemach (Loan)

Essential equipment, available when needed

Helping manage recovery at home

When a family is dealing with a medical situation, access to basic equipment can quickly become a challenge. Our Community Medical Gemach helps address that need by providing essential medical items at no cost and with minimal delay.

We lend equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other recovery necessities so patients can be cared for safely and comfortably at home. This support helps reduce stress for families and allows them to focus on recovery rather than logistics.

Requests are handled with discretion and care, and items are made available as quickly as possible based on need and inventory.

Understanding Health Insurance Options in Florida

Navigating health coverage can feel overwhelming — but understanding the basics can help you find the plan that fits your needs. Here’s a quick overview of the main types of health insurance available to Florida residents:

Created for children ages 5 to 18 who don’t qualify for Medicaid, this program offers affordable health, dental, and vision coverage. Monthly premiums are based on family income so that every child has access to essential healthcare.

For individuals and families who don’t have access to employer coverage, the federal Health Insurance Marketplace (formerly known as “Obamacare”) at HealthCare.gov offers a range of private plans. Depending on income, you may qualify for premium subsidies or reduced out-of-pocket costs.

A state and federally funded program providing free or low-cost health coverage for Floridians with limited income or resources. Medicaid serves children, pregnant women, older adults, and individuals with disabilities — and may include long-term care and specialty medical services.

A federal program for adults 65 and older and for certain younger individuals with disabilities. Medicare helps cover hospital stays (Part A), doctor visits and outpatient care (Part B), prescription drugs (Part D), and all-in-one “Medicare Advantage” plans (Part C).

Many people receive coverage through their employer or a family member’s job. Employers typically share the cost of monthly premiums, making this one of the most common and cost-effective forms of private health insurance.
